We are here to support you through the course placement step in the enrollment process.
Course Placement is required for all new students. To begin this process please submit the Course Placement Evaluation Form and any necessary documentation. The Course Placement evaluation will determine if you are eligible for placement, or if you need to complete placement testing in reading, English, math or English for Academic Purposes (EAP/ESL) to meet major goal area requirements and course prerequisites with the intent to provide academic student success at NHCC.
1. Apply to NHCC if you have not already done so. Your student ID will be required to schedule an appointment.
2. Submit the Course Placement Evaluation Form. We will respond back with your next steps and whether you will need to complete any testing.
- Send official College transcripts to the Records and Registration office for evaluation.
- Send unofficial College transcripts to the Testing Center for evaluation.
3. Schedule a placement test appointment online.
- Do you need test times outside of our normal testing hours?
If so you must have access to a desktop or laptop computer with a web camera and microphone.
Have you verified that you meet the ACCUPLACER technical requirements? Choose the test option of Accuplacer with Examity in RegisterBlast. Note: Examity does not accept testing on Chromebooks or Tablets. - Need support? Email: testingcenter@nhcc.edu or Phone: 763-424-0928
4. Prepare for the Placement Test with the ACCUPLACER, ACCUPLACER ESL and Math study packets. This test is not timed; however, we suggest allowing up to 2 hours.
5. Upon completion of testing, Post-Assessment advising will be available to explain the test results and your next steps to course registration.
1. Scores Expired? Reading and writing test scores are valid for five years, ESL test scores are valid for three years, and Math test scores are valid for two years. Returning NHCC students may submit the Course Placement Evaluation Form to determine if they are required to take a placement test if test scores have expired or if required as a course prerequisite.
2. Retesting with valid scores on file? NHCC policy allows one retest per semester. Contact the Testing Center before scheduling an appointment to evaluate current placements. Email: testingcenter@nhcc.edu or Phone: 763-424-0928.
