A Liberal Arts major allows you to explore your interests with introductory classes (e.g., Intro to Business). You also need to declare a major if you plan to apply for financial aid (loans, grants, etc.). You can change your major when you decide.

Yes, FOCUS 2 is a self-guided career, major and education planning system designed to guide you through the steps of the career planning process.
You can use FOCUS 2 at any stage of your education and career planning based on your personal needs.
You need to declare a major if you plan to apply for financial aid (loans, grants, etc.). You can select a major when you apply to NHCC.
Many students choose Liberal Arts to as their initial major.
Starting with a Liberal Arts major allows you to explore your interests with introductory courses, e.g., Intro to Biology, Intro to Accounting.
When you find something you're interested in, you can change your major.
It's important to work with your academic advisor on changing your major.
If you haven't started at NHCC, a good starting point is scheduling a meeting with admissions.
If you're a current student, the best place to start is meeting with your advisor.
For career related questions, meet with career services.
The most important thing you can do is meet with an academic advisor. They can help you be strategic in choosing classes that align with your transfer plan and career goals.
Meeting with your academic advisor is especially important if you don't know what area you want to focus on for your bachelor's program. Your academic advisor can help you explore your options and plan for transferring.
While you're a student at NHCC, be sure to take advantage of Career Services as you consider your career options.
Your first step will be completing the online application.
When you apply, you can select Liberal Arts if you're not sure what you want your major to be.
You can change it later, and you can discuss changing your major when you meet with your advisor to register for classes.
You can complete a major update form.
It's very important to meet with an academic advisor when you change your major.
One of the best things you can do is ask questions. Talk to your instructors, your academic advisor, and current students.
If you can, find people who work in the field you're interested in. Ask them questions or try to set up an informational interview.
It's also a good idea to meet with Career Services. Take advantage of the resources you have access to here at NHCC!
