If you are a Minnesota resident aged 62 or older, you can enjoy reduced-rate courses at North Hennepin Community College on a space-available basis.
Steps to Register
You are able to take classes for credit as a degree-seeking or non-degree seeking student, or you can audit a course.
If you are interested in obtaining a degree or certificate, you will apply as a degree-seeking student.
*In order to receive the senior citizen tuition rate, registration must occur after the first day of the term on a space-available basis.
Step 1: Apply to NHCC
Step 2: Visit the Records and Registration Office with your photo ID for proof of age.
- Stop by in person with your ID, scan and email a copy of your ID to registration@nhcc.edu, or upload through the secure portal.
Step 2: Complete course placement
- Fill out and submit the Course Placement Evaluation Form
- If Accuplacer testing is required, the Testing Center will notify you
Step 3: Complete online orientation
Step 4: On the second day of the term, you can register for any open courses on which you meet the pre-req/placement levels
If you are interested in taking courses for credit, but not obtaining a degree or certificate, you will apply as a non-degree seeking student.

Step 3: On the second day of the term, you can register for any open courses on which you meet the pre-req/placement levels
When you audit a course, you will not receive credit for the course. The grade will show up as an AU on your transcript.
*In order to receive the senior citizen tuition rate, registration must occur after the first day of the term on a space-available basis. Auditing students can opt out of paying inclusive fees by contacting the NHCC Bookstore.

Step 3: Complete the Audit Form
Step 4: The Records and Registration Office will register you for the course on the second day of the term

- Audit/On Campus: $5.51/credit
