A colorful painting of a chicken done by Thomas Stewart at the MN State Fair, receives an NHCC Art Award

Each year, the NHCC Art Department gives out three awards in honor of art faculty members Lance Kiland, Joseph Gazzuolo, and Frank Schreiber for the annual Fine Art Exhibition at the Minnesota State Fair.

NHCC Art faculty, Gina Dabrowski added, "As this year's NHCC Gallery Director, I am excited to participate in this year's selection process, along with Leslie McDougall. We selected media that represents the NHCC art department: painting, ceramics, and digital media."

Here are the three artworks that received a NHCC award:

  • Chris Winn, Survivor, Digital Collage - Frank Schreiber Award
  • Thomas Stewart, Things They Say "Taste Like Chicken" II, Oil on Canvas - Lance Kiland Award
  • Bobbette Despard, Fleur de Papillon, Ceramic - Joseph Gazzuolo Award

Thanks to former NHCC art faculty, Will Agar for setting up this partnership to raise the visibility of NHCC at Minnesota's biggest get together. Even after they have passed away, it's great to see the legacies of our beloved NHCC faculty represented at the Fair.
