Making Spirits Bright at the NHCC Toy Express Drive
At the end of last semester, Menards in Golden Valley held a Toy Express Drive for NHCC. Student-parents could sign up to “shop” from the donated toys for their children. There was a list of students who submitted a request to receive toys for their children and over 47 kids benefitted from the toy drive this past holiday season.
Josie Neveu in the CARE Center coordinated this project, commenting, "Thanks to the Golden Valley Menards we helped over 47 kids this holiday season; each child was able to get 4 large gifts and 3 smaller stocking stuffers. We even had a wrapping station so our parenting students were able to have all the gifts wrapped and labeled at the event. A total of 547 items were donated and that equaled $5,171. The leftover toys will be used for our new birthday program. NHCC students who have children can join our parent support program and be eligible to pick out a toy for their child’s birthday. More information about the birthday program will be sent out in the student-parent newsletter that students sign up to receive. Please reach out if you have any questions about these new initiatives."
