Celebrating Latin Identity: A Hispanic Heritage Month Keynote Presentation with Katya Zepeda
- Thursday, September 19, 2024. 12pm-1pm.

Katya Zepeda is originally from Mexico City. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Crookston. Currently, she serves as the Legislative and Policy Director for the Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs (MCLA). Her legislative work includes the Increase Teachers of Color Act and the North Star Promise. Katya has a wide range of experience in multiple sectors including 6 years in Education, 3 years in Non-Profit, and 5 years in Healthcare. She was the former Executive Director for United Way of Crookston, where she founded the first Student United Way Chapter in Minnesota.

This webinar is being held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Heliana Ramirez, PhD, LISW is a social work researcher and clinician whose work addresses racial and LGBTQ+ related workplace trauma. Dr. Ramirez has worked extensively with Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities regarding racial battle fatigue, post traumatic growth, and creating healthier work environments. Dr. Ramirez has also trained staff across healthcare systems and universities in culturally responsive suicide prevention, workplace psychological safety, and creating trauma-informed business practices and cultures. Her work joins somatic practice with women of color feminisms to create learning opportunities based in neuroscience, intergenerational cultural wisdom, and liberatory praxis.
Just a reminder, the Gerry Huerth Diversity Center at NHCC is a space to lounge, study, and be in community. The Gerry Huerth Center (CC 103) is open Monday-Thursday, from 8am-4:30pm. We also offer a Queer Sanctuary on-campus. Also located in the Campus Center, (Room 103A) with the same hours. This is a space for folks who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and active allies to be in community. You are welcome here!
