Selections from the Collection is an exhibition of artwork acquired by North Hennepin Community College. The work provides an excellent teaching resource for development of the design principles.
In media ranging from painting, drawing and photography, to ceramics, mixed media and printmaking, the artists use line, repetition, shape, contrast, and color to engage the viewer in the representations of the landscape, portraits, and abstract work.
The NHCC collection encapsulates a broad range of media that dates from the 1950s to present. The art collection has been acquired through purchase by the college, donated by individual artists, or contributed by the family of the artist. Several of the artists are well known in their field, and include artists from the Midwest, faculty, and alumni. Every year we add to the collection by purchasing art from the Student Art Show exhibited in the Joseph Gazzuolo Gallery each spring.
As Bruce Lebus said upon viewing the show, "It's like seeing old friends." The show runs from January 13 – January 28. Please stop by the gallery and visit the art that we brought out of storage to grace the gallery walls for the first show of Spring Semester 2025.
