Dr. Chukwuemeka Ekemezie is a Nigerian-born English Instructor resident in Blaine, Minnesota, United States of America. He did a Bachelor's degree in English at University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1979-1983), where he also completed and a Master's degree in English (1988), with a concentration in Modern African Literature.
In 2009, Dr. Ekemezie completed a doctoral program in English at University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria. The focus of his research work was the works of the South African novelist, the late Bessie Head, whose writings evince a masterful deployment of myth as political statement, to plumb the contours of archetypal human heroism and its antitheses.
In the Fall of 2008 (and also in the Spring of 2009), Dr. Ekemezie taught English and literature classes at Northwestern College, now called University of Northwestern, Roseville, St. Paul. Thereafter, he taught writing and literature classes at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC), between 2012 and 2017. He has been teaching writing and literature classes at North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) since the Fall of 2018.
Apart from sundry contributions to books and journals, Dr. Ekemezie published an anthology of poems, Web: The Spider and the Fly (ISBN: 978-14817-0763-3). He is married and has three boys.
