Because I am an English teacher, people often ask if I could help them write a resume, and I often joke that I only wrote one resume in 1987 when I applied to North Hennepin for a job as a teacher. Needless to say, I got the job, and I have been teaching happily for 36 years.

When I was young, I loved to read and keep journals.  Reading novels and writing down my thoughts was a way of connecting to myself and to the world. I try to instill this love of reading and writing as a form of self reflection and expression to my students.

I have taught English in Japan, studied literature in Ireland and French in France.  On a recent sabbatical, I read all the Newbery prize winners and developed the children's literature course here at NHCC.

I am also a writer and have published essays and poems.

When I am not teaching you can find me on a pickleball court, trying a new recipe, playing the ukulele, or walking my dog.
