Career Services at NHCC

Career Services supports students and alumni in the processes of career exploration and pursuing employment opportunities. Services are available in person and virtually. Please contact Career Services with questions regarding any of its resources.

Career Assessment

Complete the FOCUS assessments (you will need to enter “NHCC” as the passcode) to learn more about yourself and how your interests, skills, personality, and values relate to career fields and occupations. Schedule a follow-up appointment for career advising and to review your assessment results.

Career Exploration

Get curious about the vast array of career opportunities and programs of study that are a potential match with your assessment results. The Minnesota State CAREERwise website will introduce you to career clusters and pathways, as well as informing on growing and emerging careers in Minnesota.

NHCC subscribes to What Can I Do With This Major? to help you connect majors/programs of study to careers.

Career Services offers additional tools to assist you with your career exploration, including the Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS). Contact Career Services for login details and a guide sheet on how to use MCIS and ask about other resources to help you in researching careers.

Job Search

Create an account in NHCC’s online job board through College Central Network (CCN). Access jobs and internships posted to the college, and search for openings nationwide. Review the introductory video for a quick overview of CCN.

Develop the tools you need for a successful job search. Start the resume writing process early in your academic career and keep your resume updated as you learn new skills and embark on new work experiences. The Resume Writing Guide offers instruction on how to gather your information and create a resume that reflects your skills and knowledge.

Need more help in your job search? Career Services can assist you with resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, networking, navigating the job search, and more. Visit Workforce Innovation & Experiential Learning (WIEL) for a calendar of upcoming events and workshops, or contact us to schedule an appointment.

Employer Resources

Organizations can create an employer account in NHCC’s online job board with College Central Network (CCN) to post and manage job openings to students and alumni, as well as sign up for upcoming job fairs. Contact Career Services for information regarding individual employer tabling on campus.
