Accepting Applications for the American Indian/Indigenous Advisory Council through May 7, 2020

This council will advise the North Hennepin Community College President and Associate Vice President of Equity and Inclusion on strategies to help recruit, retain, and build a sense of community for NHCC’s American Indian/Indigenous student body. Council members will have the depth and breadth of cultural knowledge and understanding to provide advice on appropriate and culturally relevant initiatives. Council members should also understand the barriers impacting American Indian/Indigenous students in order to successfully support NHCC in the development of its initiatives.

Meetings will be held on campus monthly, the last Tuesday of every month, from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., starting June 30, 2020.

To be eligible, applicants should:

  • Have a connection to American Indian/Indigenous populations, Minneapolis, and knowledge of community members or organizations who are invested in supporting American Indian/Indigenous populations. 

  • Demonstrate a commitment to social justice, diversity and inclusion. 

  • Be prepared to work collaboratively and understand (or be willing to learn) the parameters of the community college system.

  • Be committed to attending the majority of AIIAC’s monthly meetings.
