Bruce Klopfleisch, J.D.

Bruce splits his time between his private law practice in Inver Grove Heights and teaching various courses at MnSCU community colleges.  His law practice currently focuses on civil litigation, criminal defense, and estate planning.  His prior legal experience includes 17 years as an Assistant Stevens County Attorney where he prosecuted all levels of crime for adults and juveniles and as a partner in a private law firm where he focused on civil litigation, real estate and estate planning.  He was also a judicial law clerk in Ramsey County during and after law school.

While in private practice, Bruce began to supervise student interns on a semester basis for college credit.  This experience led to his interest in teaching.  Since the 2008-2009 school year, Bruce has been teaching at multiple MnSCU institutions in a variety of areas, both in person and online.

Bruce believes in bringing his "real world" background into his teaching and giving his students a more complete learning experience.  His courses typically include engaging lectures, discussion questions, written assignments, oral presentations, and group work.  Relevant outside sources are incorporated, such as specific Minnesota Laws and Rules.  Students are expected to actively participate in the class, enhancing their understanding and application of the course content. Active participation by students will also sharpen their critical thinking and writing skills, something potential employers look for.
